Anti-Coup Protests in Myanmar Continue
Myanmar (Feb. 9) - Myanmar people have been out on the streets in cities to voice their oppose against the military coup which was taken place a week ago.
Despite chief address the situation on Monday and address the nation with irregularities in the latest election, people in from Yangon to Kachin, from Bago to Mandalay have been pouring on the streets to show their defiant on Feb. 9.
On Feb 8, police for the first time used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators gathering in the nation capital after the state-run TV had signaled the use of force on the outlaw.
At 10.30 am local time, Myanmar Now posted on its website saying that protesters were injured as the police used water cannon to disperse the crowd in the capital. Furthermore, protest sites in major cities have been mentioned.
Military coup led by Min Aung Hlaing had been taken place early on Feb. 1 before the parliament would hold a general meeting. The key factor of the coup is believed to be the electoral irregularities. The junta government, nevertheless, made a promise that free and fair election will be held within a year.
