Cabinet Adjourns Covid Vaccination, Blood Clots in Veins Reported
Nonthaburi, Thailand (Mar. 12) - Cabinet minister has suddenly postponed inoculation Friday because of medical report, showing a vaccine recipient died of and many developed blood clots in veins.
Friday morning, the premiere and other ministers were set to get the jabs at the Bamrasnaradura Infectious Diseases Institute, at the Public Health Ministry in Nonthaburi province.
Prof Dr Prasit Watanapa, dean of the faculty of medicine Siriraj Hospital of Mahidol University, told a press conference at the ministry that AstraZeneca had sent batch ABV 5300, one million doses, of its vaccine to 17 countries in the European Union, according to the Bangkok Post.
He said that the Danish government suspended vaccinations with the vaccine for two weeks so that further investigation, led by the European Medicines Agency (EMA), should be formulated, he said.
The EMA confirmed the safety of the AstraZeneca vaccine, but said it would investigate the matter. Some information is applied from Bangkok Post.
