Crowd Control Internationally Accepted: Metropolitan Police Commissioner

        Bangkok, Thailand (Mar. 2) - The Metropolitan Police Commissioner has insisted that crowd control, involving protestors in the Din Daeng area on Sunday, step-by-step following protocols and using non-life threatening equipment, are internationally accepted.

        Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Pol Lt Gen Pakkapong Pongpetra, elaborated operations in front of the 1st Infantry Regiment on Vipavhadi Road, to control demonstrators between 3pm and 2am starting on Feb. 28, saying that officers periodically had warned protest goers that they were unlawful to form the rally before taking action against those who attempted to demolish the barricades, and who were attacking authorities with objects, public properties.

        Pol Lt Gen Pakkapong admitted that rubber bullets were utilized in the offensive, reassuring that non-fatal ammunitions are internationally accepted. Additionally, the authorities are still assessing damage caused by the protestors who were participating in the demonstration at Din Daeng Police Station and Suthisarn Police Station, where 22 people were captured.

        Deputy Metropolitan Police Commissioner Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai added that the 22 arrested in the course of proper procedures, are being custody on charges of gathering in the restricted area, violating Covid-19 protocols under the Emergency Decree and using public addressing system without authorization, hampering authorities form their onus and attacking an officer.
