Projectiles Hit Army Base in Iraq Hosting US troops
Baghdad, Iraq (Mar. 3) - The US-led coalition forces have said Wednesday that at least 10 projectiles have targeted an Iraq's military base in the west of the nation where hosts American troops.

There was not immediate reports of casualties of the incident as the rockets struck Ain al-Asad airbase in Anbar province at 7:20 a.m. local time
Later, the Iraqi military issued a statement saying the attack didn't cause significant losses and that the launch pad used for the projectiles had been found by security forces.
The attack came two days before Pope Francis' is scheduled to visit Iraq in a much anticipated trip that will include Baghdad, southern Iraq and in the northern city of Irbil, according to AP news.
It was the first attack since the US struck Iran-aligned militia targets along the Syrian border week, raising fears of reoccurrence of attacks that intensified last year, resulting the US strike that claimed life of Iranian Gen. Qassim Soleimani outside the Baghdad airport.

After that attack, the Pentagon said the strike was a “proportionate military response” taken after consulting coalition partners, alluding the report of AP.
