Political Groups behind Arson of King’s Portrait
Bangkok, Thailand (Mar. 1) – 3 suspects – 1 woman and 2 men – have practiced arson on the monarch portrait, prompting the justification of justice minister.

Justice minister, Somsak Thepsutin, said the after the meeting with Correction Department’s administrators and deputy commander of Bankok Metropolitan Police Bureau Division 2 that 3 arsonists burned the king’s portrait situated in front of Klong Prem Central Prison 3.10 am Sunday and the equipments e.g. a petrol tank and a lighter were found at the scene according to the inspection from CCTV footage.
He added that the department informed Prachachuen police to track the arsonists. The police found that they were driving the only white MPV, operating at the time, heading to their accommodation, resulting in the acknowledgement of the arsonists’ location.
"I have learned from the officers that evidence and mobile contracts have been being conducted. The police will have concluded the offence within 7 days. Additionally, the culprits are involved with political groups”, Somsak Thepsutin said.
The Correction Department has notified that the culprits have made 3 offences at Prachachuen Police Station. Those are firing to the things belonging to the other person, entering or hiding himself in a dwelling place, store-house or office and lese mejeste. As of today, police have been asking the court for arrest warrant.
In addition to this, Mr. Thepsutin ordered the Correction Department to check CCTV to be available for reoccurrence.
