Thai PM Gets First AstraZeneca Shot

        Bangkok Thailand (Mar 16) - Thailand's Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-o-cha has been the first person to get the jab of AstraZeneca at 8.45 am Tuesday, officially starting the nation's vaccine rollout.

        The vaccination was held at the Government House. 
        
        The inoculation of AztraZenca had been adjourned from Mar.12 due to reports of many people died of blood clots and others developed the symptom in Denmark. 

        Cabinet ministers were also vaccinated, aiming to boost trust among people and to show readiness of the government for coping Covid-19.

        During side effect observation period, the premiere said the vaccination has begun since Feb 28.

        "Over 1.1 lakh doses of vaccine have been dispatched to 13 provinces. 50,380 have been already vaccinated." he said.

        He added that the government will accelerate the inoculation process. "Private sectors are allowed to import other vaccines. The imports must be checked quality by the FDA." he continued.

        The premiere, furthermore, asked for cooperation among people for the upcoming Songkran holidays.

        Yong Poovorawan, a medical professor in pediatric hepatology at the Faculty of Medicine of Chulalongkorn University, said that over 300 million doses of vaccine have been inoculated globally.

        In Thailand, there have been 2 types of vaccines - AstraZeneca and Sinovac which are safe because of their clinical trials.

        In addition to this, Anuthin Charveerakul reiterated that Thailand secured the vaccine for Thai people.
