The security mission to guard the US capitol with 5,200 since the raid on Jan. 6 will be expired on March 12. The 2-month extension will be implemented if the request is approved. Elissa Slotkin, a democrat representative to Michigan, confirmed she was aware of the request for a 60-day extension. In another tweet she said quote - "No one likes seeing the fortress-like security around the Capitol. And no one wants to again have a security problem in and around this symbolic place."

Troops have been on the mission at the building since then amid ongoing threats since former President Donald Trump's supporters stormed into the building
Capitol Police have issued warning about a possible security threat to the building Thursday, leading the House of Representatives to cancel its session for the day. Some information is applied from UPI.
