Police Warns Protesters Possible Force for any Unlawful Demonstrations

 
        Bangkok, Thailand (Mar. 13) - Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai, a spokesperson to the Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau has revealed the measures, being used to cope with today's demonstrations. 

        He elaborated that there will be 3 groups, all intending to march to the government house. Those are United Front of Thammasat and Demonstration, asking people to assemble at the Constitution Court, Nonthaburi New Generation Network, gathering at the same site, and Vocational against Dictatorship Assembly, having a starting point at the Victory Monument at 2 pm.

        The police were deployed in 3 separated locations, the Constitution Monument where Pol Maj Gen Methee Rakpan is in charge, the Victory Monument where Pol Gen Surapong Thampitak is at the helm and the government house where Pol Maj Gen Saharat Saksillapachai is reponsible there.

        Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai had warned the protesters that the assembly violates a number of regulations - Emergency Decree, Disease Control Act and  Public Speaking System Act.

        He added that the warnings will be periodically issued and the use of force to disperse the crowds will be implemented if the protesters set up accommodation. In addition to this, weaponry screening will be intensively in place to prevent the protesters from using violence, aiming to instigate people to cause pandemonium. 

        He insisted that the crowds have been interdicted from entering the restricted area. For the defiant crowds, crowd control equipment will have been internationally in place. Hence, negotiation will be prioritized before the situation becomes incorrigible.
