Tear Gas Canisters, Rubber Bullets Fired at Protesters in Myanmar
Yangon, Myanmar (Mar. 2) - Police in Myanmar have used tear gas and rubber bullets Tuesday against demonstrators, refusing last month’s coup and calling for the release of the political icon, Aung San Su Kyi, however, the demonstrators reassembled after apiece tried to defend themselves with barricades as stalemates between protesters and security forces escalated.
Intensive law enforcement, prompting a number of arrests, on the protesters in recent days have been implemented. UN said that it is believed at least 18 people were claimed their lives on Sunday by security forces. Foreign ministers from Southeast Asian nations were meeting Tuesday to discuss the snowballing conundrum.Influx of demonstrators on the street has continued despite the crackdown and it shows rigorous resistance on the attempt to disperse them. Hundreds, many putting on helmets and baring shields, rallied in the biggest city, Yangon. Many of them dragged bamboo sticks and debris from barricades, uttered slogans at the police lines. Banana skins have been exploited and thrown on to the road to hampered the police approaches.
According to AP's news report, the demonstrators fled in panic each time tear gas canisters were fired but soon returned to their barricades. Videos posted on social media showed similar chaotic scenes in the Insein neighborhood of northern Yangon.
