Over Quarter of Million People Infected with Covid-19 in India, Delhi CM Seeks more ICU Beds

        Delhi, India (Apr. 18) - India has confirmed 261,394, over a quarter of million,  people stricken with Covid-19 in a day.

        In Delhi alone, 24,375 were suffered from the pathogen.

        Hospitals are reportedly overwhelmed by a large number of patients. According to Delhi's Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, infirmaries are very grim as many faces ICU shortages. 

        In a televised address he said "We have asked center for more beds and oxygen cylinders." "We have asked center to provide us at least 7,000 beds." he added.

        He hoped that over 6,000 ICU beds would be available to treat patients in the next 2 days as he wrote appealing letters to PM Narendra Modi, asking for assistance.

        Delhi now has less than 100 ICU beds for coronavirus patients, said CM Arvind Kejriwal. Virtually addressing the people of Delhi on Sunday, the Chief Minister said the national capital is witnessing an upward trajectory in terms of new confirmed cases of Covid-19, according to India Today's news report.
