Thousands without Power as Hurricane Delta Makes Landfall

 

          Louisiana, US (Oct. 10) - Hurricane Delta has made landfall in the state of Louisiana Friday evening local time, leaving thousands without power. 

          The hurricane, carring 100 mph winds, struck the costal line of louisiana around miles of the site where Hurricane Luara battered the state in August.

          Weather Channel said that Delta is the first Geek-named hurricane to come ashore in mainland US. The storm is the 10th landfall in this season.

          Delta is now moving northeastward, expected to bring heavy downpour in its path.

          Thousand of people, living in the southern part of the state prepared for the largo swirling storm,  the category 4 hurricane, to came ashore. 

          Citizens in the state strengthened the windows, covered the roof of each house, and filled sandbags to relief the devestation of flood waters and storm surge.

          Some 170,000 residents in Louisiana and 75,000 in Texas were without electricity Friday evening as Delta swirled over the states for most of the day. Some information is applied from UPI.
